What is waterproof flooring, and why should I get it?

Waterproof flooring, an advanced version of luxury vinyl flooring (LVF), is engineered to offer the highest level of moisture protection. So, whether you have an appliance flood, burst pipe, or an "oops" moment when you drop a gallon of milk or spill a glass of juice, it can sit there indefinitely and won't seep through. You can have peace of mind knowing you can be away from home for weeks, and the waterproof floors will remain undamaged should there be a flood or spill.

Several options of waterproof floors

It wasn't so long ago that your only options were tile and luxury vinyl. While both are terrific, you now have even more choices. Sometimes referred to as waterproof vinyl flooring, this engineered product is even thicker than luxury vinyl flooring. To put it into perspective, LVF is already five times thicker than the original one! In addition, it comes with the technologically advanced WPC (wood plastic composite) or SPC (stone plastic composite) cores, making it impervious to liquid.

It's important to note, however, that it has the same style as LVF. Beautiful, nature-inspired, and true-to-life images of wood, stone and ceramic tile come with micro beveling and embossing to add depth and dimension. Textured looks, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed, are available, as are many mattes, gloss, and high gloss stains. Like LVF, it can be cut into long planks or groutable squares and installed as floating floors in which the pieces click, mat, and hover over the subfloor without nails or glue. Please speak to our waterproof flooring store experts about underlayments when you're ready.

A new, additional waterproof laminate version

A unique construction without wood makes this product spill-proof, eliminating concerns about soaking or staining. Laminate has long been considered a great alternative to natural wood but was avoided for installation in the kitchen and bath because of the wood/water issues. Now it can be installed anywhere, but please specify which version you want. The products are all easy to care for, with a regular sweeping or periodic mopping. Use a manufacturer-approved cleaner and avoid waxy, shine-promoting substances which can damage finishes and dull the floors. If you feel you need more shine, come into our waterproof flooring store for advice.
